Sprained my ankle pretty badly 2 yrs ago; stayed off for 3-4 wks; but can be unstable even when walking to this day + can hurt. suggestions?

Physical therapy: Recommend that you do some rehabilitation exercises to strengthen your ankle. It sounds like the muscles, tendons and ligaments that stabilize the ankle are loose as a result of the sprain which was never rehabbed. For all of my patients with first time or multiple ankle sprains I recommend physical therapy to strengthen and retrain the ankle for balancing and gait retraining.
