Your doc: Some women are born with no hymen, a limited wide shelf like hymen or lose it through childhood trauma, self sex, or other event like molestation. If your finger passes easily into the opening it could be gone or "broken".If your doc examined the area and said it was gone, I would accept it as being true.

Yes: I'm so sorry for what happened to you. Intercourse, penetration, will almost inevitably break the hymen. Some plastic surgeons can repair it if this is a problem for you.
