A member asked:

Is it normal to sleep all day the day after getting general anesthia for a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends. . .: Different drugs used to achieve anesthesia have different half-lives which translates into different lengths of time for their effects to dissipate. Depending on the amount that was used to achieve, the sedation effect may linger for awhile. Anesthesia drugs tend to absorb into the fat tissues of the body and may be released slowly afterwards producing some lingering somnolence.
