Abnormal bacteria: Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of the wrong bacteria and a deficiency of the good bacteria that defend the vagina and keep the correct ph balance. This leads to a bad odor that is typically "fishy" smelling. It is not usually related to an std. It responds to some antibiotics, but it often recurs. Metronidazole or Clindamycin are the best Rx. Vaginal probiotics may help too.
