A member asked:

What do you advise if i'm not tolerating medformin, is there another pill or will he put me on insulin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Other drugs: Hi. Don't feel bad. There's a small but very real subset to people who just can't tolerate metformin. There are MANY other drugs for type 2 I'd put you on before insulin, but it depends on your insurance coverage (they're expensive, but so is insulin). My preference would be a GLP-1 agonist drug (e.g., Victoza) +/- an SGLT-2 inhibitor (e.g., Invokana) - NO risk of hypoglycemia. To your health!
