No diagnosis: If there is a cyst of the ovary smaller than 5 cm it can be watched. If complex on sono or larger than 5 cm. biopsy indicated. Ca 125 cant be used for diagnosis. FDA has approved the Carbohydrate Antigen measurements for monitoring purposes only. Ca125 will go up in the presence of an inflammatory process and can also go to levels over 1000 associated with ascites from alcoholic cirrhosis.
