Phospholipids: Are oriented in such a way in the cell membrane. This orientation is not maintained well as cells age. These cells can be attacked. Also, certain illnesses can stimulate the immune system in such a way that anti phospholipid antibodies can be produced. This may increase the likelihood of developing a clot when a serious illnessis experienced.
