Avoid NSAIDs: Chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives) and angioedema (swelling) can be triggered by regular or high doses of NSAIDs like ibuprofen and Aleve. There is evidence to suggest that avoiding aspirin and NSAID's can prevent exacerbation of hives and swelling. Use Tylenol (acetaminophen) as a substitute at low doses. If this fails to control symptoms Celebrex (celecoxib) can be used instead. See Allergist for details.
