Yes, but...: Nasal polyps can definitely affect quality of life. Chronic sinusitis from polyps not only affect breathing but also may result in sleep disturbance, fatigue, and poor sense of smell. Depending on the severity of polyps, nasal obstruction or poor smell would definitely impair a firefighter (who needs to breath in distress or smell smoke). Polyps are definitely treatable so please see an ENT.
