Yes: I am an anesthesiologist. It is possible to have IV sedation, sometimes termed "twilight sleep" for this procedure if you are very anxious and/or feel the procedure will be painful. Discuss the options with your doctor and decide on a plan BEFORE you have your tube change. Good luck and good health to you!
