Avoidance & OTC meds: As you know, minimizing exposure to allergens is usually the most effective approach--> try to be in separate room, maintain good ventilation, no dusting or brushing when you're around, etc. When you can't avoid the irritant, OTC allergy meds may be helpful (e.g., Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) Clariitin, Zyrtec). If not enough, your PCP may consider more aggressive allergy treatment, like Singulair. Good luck.
