Nail bands: You didn't say if they run side to side or longitudinally , but I suspect you meant the latter. If so, it's a normal variant, seen in a majority (some papers say 90%) of African Americans. Side to side streaks can be caused by medications and underlying medical problems, and should be evaluated by your doctor.
