Tension likely: These can be hard to distinguish sometimes. If you normally don't get headaches and headaches also don't run in your family and in addition you have muscle pain around your neck - it is most likely a tension headache. Try warm heating pads or massage. Having said that it could also be a migraine so the best way to distinguish is to be evaluated by your doctor. I hope you feel better.

Migraine vs Tension: Traditionally, migraine and episodic TTH were viewed as different clinical entities, yet epidemiological studies have not been able to find clinical and pathophysiological features to distinguish episodic TTH from migraine. Most migraineurs have signs and symptoms of TTH; 25% of TTH patients reportedly have migraine symptoms. See orofacial pain or headache specialist for evaluation.
