Many monkeypox infections are mild & don't require medical treatment. Monkeypox can be fatal in up to 10% of cases. Per CDC-"Human infections with the Central African monkeypox virus clade are typically more severe compared to those with the West African virus clade and have a higher mortality". There usually aren't long-term symptoms.
