Taking a bad break: Derealization is a disorder either by itself or as a condition of another disorder like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or a Personality Disorder. It is viewed as a poor response to a stress because the patient "escapes" from reality but does not fully solve the problem or stresses that they are facing. Psychotherapy can help with this.
