No: With local anesthetic no. Without , usually not more than the injection of local anesthetic. Usually a very quick superficial gum trimming. Most of the pain/discomfort will be of your own making through fear and imagination. Really is is not a big deal. You get what you wish for - if you see it as not big deal that is what it will be.

Operculectomy : is a surgical procedure and is not completely pain or risk-free. Pain, swelling and infection following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. See your dentist or an oral surgeon for post-op appointment and treatment.
