Get seen: This could be the result of an infection or the result of food getting trapped in the extraction socket and then breaking down. Get seen by a dentist/surgeon (oral) right away to identify the cause and have it treated.

Possible Dry Socket: A foul taste and throbbing pain occurring within the first 2 - 5 days following the extraction of a tooth in the lower jaw possibly could be a dry socket. Smoking, excessive spitting, and drinking with a straw immediately following the extraction can incrrease the risks of experiencing a dry socket. Your dentist or surgeon can advise you if you have a dry socket or food trapped in the socket.
