Maybe not: Abdominal pain may be as harmless as gas, or as serious as an internal abscess. Discuss your symptoms with your surgeon.

Sometimes: Some post operative pain can be expected especially near incisions. If the pain is persisting and getting worse rather than better, you should visit your surgeon for evaluation to make sure there is no post operative complication. Consider taking stool softeners or laxatives as well because narcotic pain medication can cause constipation and lower abdominal pain.
