Warm saltwater.: Warm saltwater rinses 3-5/day will help reduce inflammation and make the area more comfortable. Ibuprofen 400mg every 4 hrs will do the same. Ice directly on the sore for 10 minutes 4-5 times/day is difficult but really works. Eat only soft foods that are not spicy or hot to keep from irritating the area. All these will reduce the healing time but it still takes 7-10days.
