Debactoral: There are many over the counter products that help promote healing. One we recommend is glyoxide. The best is a product is one that needs to be administered by your dentist or purchased at their office. It is debactoral. It will sting when initially placed but it will clear up the ulcer in approximately 3 days.

Mostly time, but....: There are some medications or ointments you can get in a pharmacy to help them feel better meanwhile. Ask your own pharmacist what they have and what they recommend. Some dentists can apply in-office treatment or laser to speed recovery somewhat.

In office treatment: There are several products available to medical and dental professionals to treat canker sores in the office. These products cauterize the sore and relieve the pain almost immediately. These products are not available otc but are a great option to have if the sore is located in a particularly painful area of the mouth. If the sore lasts more than 10 days see your dentist.
