Withdrawal bleed: Progestins (aygestin, norethindrone) help with frequent heavy bleeding when due to irregular ovulation. The women bleed unpredictaby because they don't get the regular sloughing effect of a period. Progestins, once stopped, force a 'normal' menstrual bleed, which clears out the uterus so no further inappropriate bleeding occurs. For costs, you need to call your pharmacy.
