A member asked:

Can you tell me how chest circumfrence relate to lungs functional test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lung Function Tests: Normal value for pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are determined by age, gender, height, weight and ethnicity. There is no specific correction for chest circumference. If the chest circumference if affected by a disease (such as pectus excavatum - sunken chest), there would a restrictive pattern on PFTs with reduced vital capacity and total lung capacity.
