Antibodies: Antibodies fall into several different classes, IgM, IgG, IgA and IgE. The first two are the primary ones measured in the humoral immune response in the blood. IgM can appear fairly rapidly following exposure, usually within a week, while a measurable, specific IgG response appears later, usually two-three weeks. This forms the basis of longer-term immunity and persists for months to years.
