Optical Reflex: This is the optical reflex. It is a protective reflex that is absent in infants under 9 months old.. it is learned, unlike the corneal, or blink reflex, that causes a blink in response to stimulation of the nasociliary branch of the 5th cranial nerve by irritating the cornea.
