A member asked:

What difference does treatment make for hiv positive people?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A big difference: Treatment for those with HIV can make a huge difference. Although we do not yet have a cure, we can now keep people much healthier and safe from a variety of serious infections that can lead to death. The current treatment for HIV involves a 'cocktail' of at least 3 medications and has been shown to extend people's lives almost to the extent of people without HIV and has been a lifesaver for many.
