A member asked:

What to do about hypokalemic paralysis attack help please!!!?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the cause: This really depends on the cause of the hypokalemic periodic paralysis. If this is the genetic variant with no hyperthyroid state involved, then avoidance of hypokalemia is all that is needed. If hyperthyroidism is the cause, then treatment of the hyperthyroidism cures the condition. In an attack, potassium supplementation controls the symptoms.
