Depends: Eye shield can reduce the incidence of trauma in an eye with a hyphema, thus reducing the recurrence of re-bleeding. For this reason, some doctors request patients keep fairly inactive until they are healed. Also, its a good idea to be on a cycloplegic agent to prevent the pupil from moving. You really need to ask the doctor who is following you. Many patients don't wear eye shield at all.
