Can you tell me how early can babies be healthily born?

Dr. Gregory Sysyn answered

Specializes in Pediatrics

Depends on Healthy: 3 wks and above are not even classified as early. 10 weeks early and above the outcomes are good with lower risks of prolonged ventilator needs and can generally go home within a month of due date. Every 2 weeks earlier, the risks of deathbad outsomes go up and length of stay goes up. Edge of viability (not counting good outcome) is 16-17 weeks early.
