Usually 2 weeks: H. pylori infection is treated with triple therapy (2 antibiotics + 1 acid medication) for 2 weeks. This usually is enough time to eliminate the bacteria. Sometimes, you may need repeated courses of treatment (2 weeks each) to eliminate the bacteria. Since there are two antibiotics taken at the same time, the side effects are usually: nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea. Take Probiotics!
