It is possible if : The nerve block irritated the nerve or the needle somehow irritated the nerve. See your surgeon for an evaluation & recommendations. One should also rule out other possible causes such as positioning during the surgery which could have also been a source of the symptoms. Sometimes sciatica develops if there are changes in the way you move as a result of the reason you needed surgery or after.

Hard to say: Many times if you have post procedure pain it can last a few days up to 1-2 weeks. If you are not feeling better, ask your doctor if they might give you something for this pain for the next few days while you wait to see surgeon.

Pain from block: If you had a lidocaine spinal anesthetic, there is a possibility that you have a complication known as Transient Radicular Irritation. Lidocaine is known to occasionally cause this. Its not well understood. NSAIDS like naproxen can help. It usually resolves on its own within 1 -2 weeks. how you were positioned on the table is also a factor. Talk to your anesthesia providers.
