Security & safety: The first steps in helping an anxious child would be to make sure that child is receiving lots of security inducing messages from a parent/parents. Make sure there is nothing in the environment could be interrupted as threatening to the child.

Anxiety: There's anxiety and there's anxiety disorders. Everyone has anxiety. Usually, just talking to your child about it, and reassurance, is enough. However, if the anxiety is preventing them from doing the things most children have no problem with; it may be an anxiety disorder. Does it prevent them from going to parties? joining clubs or sports? If so, or you're not sure, talk to your doctor about it
