Yes: Several studies have shown that Baclofen (liorisal®) can reduce or eliminate alcohol withdrawal. This is not surprising, because this drug is a direct gaba-acting agent and GABA is the neurotransmitter that is also affected by benzodiazepines like Valium and librium, and work in withdrawal. However, it can cause physical dependence as well if used for prolonged periods.
