About 7 days: is a surgical procedure and is not completely risk-free. Pain, swelling and infection following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. If after 7 days no improvement, see your dentist or an oral surgeon for post-op appointment.

Days: If the swelling is directly from the infection several days may be needed of the correct antibiotic. See the oral surgeon who took the tooth out to rule out other sources of the infection.

7 to 14 days: If Antibiotics are effective the Infection should resolve within 14 days. The swelling should also resolve during that time. You can apply Ice and take NSAID like Ibuprofen or Aleve (naproxen) for reducing the Inflammation. If there is persistent Swelling and Pain beyond 2 weeks you must dee your Dentist.

It depends: how long has it been since extraction. Typically, it should take about a week for any swelling to subside if you are on antibiotics. Rinse with warm, salt water
