Yes: Internal hemorrhoids can remain totally internal and be hard to identify without a proper exam. Internal hemorrhoids can also become so large or thrombosed (clotted) that they protrude to the outside.

Yes: Internal hemorrhoids can not be seen by simply looking at the anus. They exist just inside the anus.
