They are just veins: Internal hemorrhoids are simply veins underneath the lining of the anal canal starting about 5 cm up. Squeeziong during bm's or internal trauma can make them bulge and bleed. They have low pressure so bleeding should stop quickly though there may be some spotting. The best treatment is to minimize squeezing during bms by keeping them soft. Use medicines that reduce internal anal swelling.
