Fiber. Don't strain: Constipation, hard stools and straining/pushing too hard when you have a bowel movement can aggravate hemorrhoids. Make sure you have regular bowel movements, and have enough fiber and fluid in your diet.

Yes: Avoid constipation, take lots of fiber (at least 30-35 gm per day) and drink lots of water. Most people do not need to do anything more.
