CPAP: Being on a ventilator and breathing on your own via the respirator with positive end exploratory pressure is called CPAP. In this setting it's a modality used to help the lung. Continuous positive airway pressure. This is used to prevent lung segments from collapsing. CPAP when referred to treatment of sleep apnea is the same concept but without an artificial airway.
