Fibrocystic changes: You could have fibrocystic changes. This is the most common cause of breast pain. It can be aggravated by caffeine, stress, menstrual cycle and hormonal supplements. If you are over 40, then you should have a mammogram and ultrasound. Please get evaluated by a breast specialist.

If your doctor felt something, however, it needs to be evaluated. At your age, ultrasound is typically the first imaging study, but mammogram not inappropriate either.

What medications: were changed. Also do you have a high caffeine intake ? Caffeine can cause fluid retention in the breast causing tenderness and can cause cysts, Get mammogram done and in the meantime decrease caffeine.
