Xanax (alprazolam) cause headache: Xanax is a benzodiazepine & considered 10x more potent than Valium. If taking for anxiety you might ask your prescriber for a trial of BuSpar (buspirone). It is not a controlled med and will not adversely effect operation of machinery/motor vehicle. As for causing headache I believe any med can cause any side effect even though it is not listed as a 'common reaction.'
