Constipation: This can be very defeating. Besides drinking plenty of fluids, eat high fiber foods (veggies, fruits). Also, Miralax (polyethylene glycol) appears to be safe and quite effective. Colace, stool softener, may be used as well.

FIBER: Increasing fiber in your diet along with increase in fluids is the first line of treatment for constipation during pregnancy. Bran (all grains), prunes, beans, vegetables, nuts, and fruit are all high in fiber. If you continue to struggle with constipation after making a real effort to increase fiber, you can talk to your doctor about lactulose. Good luck!
