Concussion headaches: It is possible and quite common to get headaches after a concussion, but there are more serious possibilities. Your friend needs an evaluation by an experienced neurologist to assess for other problems. If a CT scan was not obtained at the time of the concussion, then a scan may be indicated in the face of persistent or worsening headaches. If an initial scan was normal that may not be needed.

Post concussion pain: There are two likely causes. Trauma can trigger migraine headaches, which can very painful. The usual post concussion headaches are uncomfortable, poorly localized. Both can be treated with medications like amitriptyline, providing relief.
