A member asked:

Is there a cure for transparent teeth or teeth that have lost enamel?

Beautiful solutions: When enamel has been lost and becomes very thin the underlying yellow orange dentin is no longer masked by this translucent enamel. It appears transparent. Dental scientist and material experts have developed superior sturdy enamel substitutes in the form of ceramics and ceramic/composite combination. Complete, partial and on lay crowns are first choice. Frequently veneers on front teeth work.

No cure: Often a simple filling can eliminate the translucency, sometimes a veneer or crown is indicated. It is likely that some habit such as grinding or acid erosion is causing loss of enamel. Once lost it cannot be restored naturally. Elimination of the source of enamel loss is highly recommended in conjunction with filling, crown, or veneer. Often for grinders, a nightguard will help.

Prevention: Prevention is always the best cure. Some studies have shown minimum remineraliation through oil pulling. Also through a major change in diet of healthy fats, vitamin d and specific mineral intake, teeth can be remineralized. Research the work of dr. Weston price for more details. Otherwise, there are many dental possibilities to restore beauty and function to transparent teeth.
