GI effects: Metformin is known for its gastrointestinal side effects including the ones you mentioned above. If you just started the medicine, it could be the cause. If you've been taking it for a while, it still could do it if you dose was increased. It's possible your symptoms could be from whatever you ate as well. Feel better.

Not normal: Metformin side effects are diarrhea,nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, headache. Sometimes, it could cause Lactic Acidosis, a very serious condition. You should stop metformin and get medical help as soon as possible.
