Depends: If it is tender and swollen could be an infected pilonidal cyst other things could also cause the pain so if persists should get it checked

Needs to be checked: First thing you should do if it is bothering you is to have it checked to find out what exactly is the reason for the pain in the tail bone area.You need tobe examined with a detailed history of any possible injury,any history of fractures in the past,what meds if any you are taking.And may need imaging like Xrays or MRI/CAT SCAN to find the cause of the pain and trat it appropriately
