No: Antipsychotic drugs do NOT cause diabetes. Patients who take antipsychotic drugs can develop treatment emergent diabetes. However patients with mental illness are mire prone to developing diabetes. The Canadian Diabetes Association lists schizophrenia as an independent risk factor for type 2 diabetes.
