How will an eye doctor perform eye examination without refraction?

Two different things: A comprehensive eye evaluation should include a refraction, but it is not always essential. Refraction measures whether the eye is near- or farsighted, or has astigmatism. These conditions are not considered medical problems and correcting them alone does not rule out someone having other diseases in the eye. If a patient has a specific problem, refraction may be avoided altogether.
