Why?: We typically don't want to raise Total Cholesterol, or for that matter LDL (bad) cholesterol or triglycerides. However, we'd like to raise HDL (good) cholesterol but unfortunately, no drug thus far has been able to both raise HDL and prevent heart disease events. Experimental drugs have successfully raised HDL but w/o lowering heart disease. Only exercise appears to do both.
