Optimal therapy &..: First it's important to get optimal treatment for hypothyroidism. Often this involves natural thyroid or adding T3- see http://tinyurl.com/n4zmkro and http://tinyurl.com/6gvsxqu -see holistic doc. Then follow a long-term healthy diet and exercise.I like Dr. Fuhrman's Nutritarian Diet- see http://www.drfuhrman.com/library/what-is-a-nutritarian-diet.aspx Many people also find Weight Watchers helps.

Losing weight: Get your hypothyroid condition well controlled . complex matter and is more effective when individualised. However general guidelines include reducing total calories, increasing fiber, decreasing simple carbonhydrates and both resistance and aerobic excercise and getting restful 7-8hrs of sleep.
