Resistance: Sprinting is a high energy, anaerobic activity requiring power and acceleration over a relatively short period of time. Exercises which emphasize low rep and high resistance usually are the most beneficial in performance improvements in sprinters.

From above.: Achievable speed is generally limited by your genetics, anatomy and physiology. You can get to your maximum physiological limit by improving quick muscle fiber strength, core strength, proper leg positioning and optimizing arm pumping, but remember, these improvements can only add so much to increasing your speed.
