A member asked:

Can you tell me how are tapeworms related to the cells in your body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tapeworms: There are several different species of these critters, some which only involve the lining of the gut and others which can spread to the brain and elsewhere. The ones in the gut attach to the cells and drain nutrients from them and may also deplete some nutritional elements from the food you eat. As an example the fish tapeworm can cause vitamin B12 deficiency.
